Tawe Defends Cross Country Title, Jebet Wins Women’s Race
Sebastian Tawe successfully defended his national Cross Country title by clinching victory in the men’s 10km race at Ruiru Prisons ground.
Tawe displayed remarkable resilience, clocking in at 28 minutes, 38.3 seconds, just narrowly edging out Samuel Chebolei, who finished a close second with a time of 28 minutes, 38.9 seconds. Gideon Rono secured third place in this fiercely contested event.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Agnes Jebet Ngetich delivered an outstanding performance, crossing the finish line in a record time of 31 minutes, 50.9 seconds.
Her exceptional achievement has earned her the opportunity to lead the Kenyan team at the upcoming World Cross Country Championship in Serbia on March 30, 2024.
Despite the scorching conditions at the event, both Jebet and Emmaculate Anyago expressed confidence in their abilities to excel.
Jebet acknowledged the challenges posed by the intense heat but remained optimistic about Kenya’s prospects at the global stage.

Virginia Nyambura and Reynold Kipkorir showcased their prowess in the 2km race, securing wins for the Kenya Police Service.
