He mentioned having seen images of students in need of assistance and plans to act immediately to help them return home.
Defending the government’s decision to delay the school opening, Sakaja suggested that Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu may have received late information that prompted the change for the greater good.
He emphasized that the government likely acted in the best interests of the people and asked the public to trust their decision-making process.
Additionally, Sakaja mentioned that the food prepared under the Dishi na County program will be distributed to camps hosting flood victims.
He noted that there is an abundance of food and it may also be provided to prisons and other areas in need.
CS Machogu announced in a midnight communique that students who were initially set to report to school on Monday, April 29, will now return on May 6, 2024.
