He also instructed the National Youth Service (NYS) to provide land for those evacuated from their homes.
Ruto emphasized that these actions were necessary to protect lives and were implemented following meetings with various county leaders working to manage the flooding crisis.
He expressed that some residents might need to be moved to safer ground against their wishes if their lives were at risk.
Meanwhile, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced new strategies to address the ongoing flooding.
Motorists were advised to avoid driving in flooded areas to prevent incidents, as some vehicles had been swept away in recent days.
The National Police Service (NPS) and the Kenya Red Cross were coordinating search and rescue efforts by land and air, while the Kenya Coast Guard Service (KCGS) was also intensifying response operations.
Kindiki stated that various departments were already mobilizing food and household supplies to support those displaced by floods.
Measures to protect property, crops, and livestock during the rainy season have also been implemented.
