Eyewitnesses noted some students resorting to exiting the bus through windows, while bystanders attempted to lift the overturned vehicle to rescue potential trapped passengers.
Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities as of yet, awaiting official statements from the police and the university.
Meanwhile, investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident, while injured students are receiving medical attention at nearby hospitals.
This unfortunate event comes on the heels of another tragic incident involving a Kenyatta University bus in Voi, Taita Taveta County, on Monday, March 18. In that incident, the university bus collided with a trailer, resulting in the loss of 11 lives and numerous injuries.
In light of these recent accidents, which have claimed the lives of around 30 individuals within the month, the Ministry of Transport has announced new measures to address road safety concerns.
Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen reinstated National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officials on the roads as one of the initiatives.

Furthermore, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki proposed the introduction of an age limit for driving licenses to tackle the surge in road accidents nationwide.
Kindiki emphasized the importance of preventing individuals unfit to drive, whether due to age or health reasons, from being behind the wheel, citing examples from other countries where licenses cannot be renewed for those over 70 years old.
