Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki has strongly warned police officers against colluding with criminals for personal gain, emphasizing that such actions will result in immediate dismissal and prosecution, rather than merely being transferred to other duty stations as has been customary.
Speaking during a meeting with the Security and Intelligence Committee of Meru County on Saturday, Kindiki issued a two-week ultimatum to address the menace of livestock rustling in Mutuati and surrounding areas of Meru North.

Acknowledging the challenging circumstances faced by security officers operating in regions prone to banditry, Kindiki expressed appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
He announced plans to reward officers who effectively combat livestock rustling with promotions and state honors, while cautioning severe consequences for those found negligent or complicit in criminal activities.
Kindiki reassured the county security team of adequate equipment and logistical support to tackle armed criminals responsible for terrorizing residents through continuous livestock raids.
He urged collaborative efforts among security managers to swiftly eradicate the problem of cattle rustling, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
Earlier in the day, Kindiki held a similar meeting with the security management team of Laikipia County in Rumuruti.
