Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has openly urged President William Ruto to address the escalating political tensions in the country, amid speculations of an impeachment plot against him.

Speaking candidly during an interview with Sam Gituku, Gachagua requested the president to advise his close associates to lower the political temperature, which he believes is fueling unnecessary friction within the government.

Gachagua pointedly reminded the president of a promise he had made in front of the DP’s family, assuring them that the political persecution Ruto had faced under former President Uhuru Kenyatta would not occur under his leadership.

However, the deputy president expressed frustration, suggesting that political schemes against him are unfolding under Ruto’s watch.

Adding to his concerns, Gachagua revealed that he has been excluded from key events in the president’s official schedule.

He recounted an instance where he attended the funeral of the late Lamu Deputy Governor, only to receive a last-minute invitation to a State House event for the swearing-in of Inspector General Douglas Kanja.

This situation, Gachagua lamented, gives the impression that he is an absentee deputy president.

He explained that there was once a clear coordination between his office and the president’s, but he and his team were recently removed from the president’s official diary, leading to a breakdown in alignment.

These developments come against the backdrop of rumors of a potential impeachment, heightening the political tension within the administration.

Although no formal impeachment motion has been introduced, political analysts speculate that the growing rift within the ruling government could trigger a destabilizing power struggle.

Gachagua’s exclusion from key government decisions has raised concerns among his allies, who worry that he is being sidelined, prompting questions about the future dynamics of the Ruto administration.

In his address, Gachagua emphasized the need for unity within the government and called on President Ruto to fulfill his promise of protecting him from political persecution.

He warned that internal conflicts could lead to a repeat of the turbulent political environment experienced during the previous administration.

Some political insiders suggest that Gachagua’s marginalization may be part of a broader strategy to curtail his influence.

As the tension between President Ruto and his deputy continues to stir public debate, the future of their alliance remains uncertain.

Political observers are closely watching to see how these internal struggles will impact the government’s ability to lead effectively in the coming months.
