The Ministry of Interior noted that Nairobi, Tana River, West Pokot, and Homa Bay are among the counties significantly impacted by floods within the last 24 hours.
Additionally, landslides and mudslides have affected residents in Muranga and Nakuru counties.
The overall toll from the floods stands at 169 lives lost and 102 individuals injured across affected regions.
The displacement of at least 30,099 households has affected around 150,495 people. In Sindo, Homa Bay County, 161 households were displaced by flash floods following heavy rainfall.
In response to the crisis, search, rescue, and retrieval operations are actively underway, particularly in Nakuru, where recent mudslides occurred. Twenty-three people have been rescued in Garissa, according to the Interior Ministry.

To coordinate efforts, a reporting desk manned by representatives from the national government, Nakuru county, and the Kenya Red Cross has been established at the site of the tragedy in Mai Mahiu.
