Among the casualties, two students sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu, while 32 others are being attended to at Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Acknowledging the severity of the situation, the bus company has assured the public of issuing a comprehensive statement regarding the incident. It’s noted that the bus was en route from Mbale to Nairobi at the time of the accident.
An initial report from Kondele Police Station revealed that the driver was absent from the scene.

The police report describes the sequence of events, stating that the bus lost control while navigating the Coptic roundabout on its journey towards Kisumu from Kakamega, subsequently colliding with a rail guard before tipping over and coming to rest on its left side.
