A tragic incident unfolded in Togonye village, Kamunyange, Murinduko Ward, as a 70-year-old man, Patrick Gichobi, allegedly stabbed his 24-year-old nephew to death, sending shockwaves through the community in Mwea East, Kirinyaga County. 

The altercation, reportedly stemming from a quarrel following their return home from a drinking spree, escalated when Gichobi wielded a kitchen knife against his nephew.

Family members, led by Margaret Waguama, recounted the events, indicating that the nephew was discovered in a pool of blood and succumbed to his injuries despite efforts to save him at Kerugoya Hospital. 

The suspect fled the scene, prompting a police manhunt, while locals mobilized efforts to locate him to no avail.

Peter Wanjohi, a local, highlighted that this was not the first instance of aggression from Gichobi, particularly when under the influence of alcohol, adding to the gravity of the situation.
